Maintenance & safety

Ensuring the safety and maintenance of your warehouse systems is essential for operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. Regular inspections of pallet racking systems are crucial to maximizing safety. Our certified in-house inspectors perform thorough evaluations in accordance with local standards to keep your storage solutions secure.

Rack safety inspection

Periodical inspection of pallet racking systems is crucial to maximize safety and meet regulatory norms. The inspection is carried out by in-house, certified rack inspectors and in accordance with local standards.

Systematic maintenance of pallet racking systems is essential in keeping them safe. A pallet rack needs to be checked regularly and used carefully. Damaged components should be replaced after each periodic inspection. In the event of serious accident, you should be able to demonstrate that your storage racks are correctly and regularly maintained and as such are safe.

The inspection is performed by a trained and qualified rack inspector, and should take place every year. Following this inspection, a professional report is presented to the customer containing the description of the general condition of the installation, and an overview of the measures to be taken, classified into risk categories depending on the severity of the damage and the urgency of the repair.

The inspector is familiar with the materials, and based on a number of objective criteria stipulated by the standard, will be able to classify and evaluate certain forms of damage and deformation.

In addition to imposing standards on how storage systems must be designed and calculated by the manufacturers, the same European standard, EN 15635, also clearly and explicitly defines the responsibilities that the user of the storage racks has in his/her daily use of them. A regular inspection is clearly the responsibility of the user.

Many customer, however, are unaware of the hidden dangers. Regular and proper checking of the racks is a must. Small defects, which are not repaired in time, may lead to higher costs later, or serious accidents if completely neglected.

Maintenance & safety test

Regularly preventive maintenance of warehouse systems and safety tests are essential to ensure that they operate smoothly and perform optimally. Proper maintenance helps to identify and eliminate potential problems ahead of time and before they cause major failures or damage.

The regular inspection of every component in a system is one of the key warehouse maintenance tasks to ensure that these components are functioning properly and show no signs of wear or damage. The inspection covers the motors, sensors, bearings, lubrication systems, and other vital parts.

Regularly cleaning and recalibrating equipment is another essential task as dust, dirt and other debris can affect equipment performance and cause premature wear.

stow recommends to have a 6-monthly maintenance on the stow Atlas 1D shuttles and an annual maintenance on the mobile racking installation.
